The Turbulent North AtlanticThe Gulf Stream waters flow in somewhat parallel layers, slicing across what is otherwise a fairly turbulent western North Atlantic Ocean in this March 9, 2016 image collected by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite on NASA-NOAA’s Suomi NPP satellite. The turbulence — made visible by the pigmented phytoplankton it entrains — extends across the whole North American Basin from Anegada to Bermuda to Cape Cod.Image Credit: NASA/Ocean Biology Processing Group, NASA Goddard Space Flight CenterVia NASA
First Year of Preschool, Done!
This is the last week of Connor’s first year of preschool. Wow! I can’t believe it’s already June. It feels like I took a breath, and BAM! — she’s a full-on little kid. Over the past year, Coywolf has discovered a love for ballet, drawing and counting. Her favorite things are currently Disney princesses, her collection of “treasures” (unusual rocks, coins, dried flowers and sticks), fishing with Dad, and slumber parties with Mom. She’s also still obsessed with Doc McStuffins and has gone so far as to open her own medical clinic for toys in the living room, where she...
Top 3 Favorite Holiday Films
I feel like I should have at least one Hallmark movie on this list, or maybe even a classic like It’s a Wonderful Life, but you know what? These are the three holiday movies I can watch over and over and over again, and I unapologetically love all of them. 1. The Sound of Music At the top of the list is Sound of Music. I try to watch this one every year, but I don’t always get to because it’s so long — almost three hours (!) — but when I was a kid, every Christmas it was a...

Hiya and good meow-ning! I have been informed by my employer, and by “informed,” I mean that somebody has been biting the living daylights out of my ankles and hair (yes, hair), that National Cat Day occurred last Monday, October 29th. I was aware of this, but I neglected to give an appropriate gift to my employer, as is customary on the aforementioned holiday. Sorry, Mr. Tabs! I hope the following peace offering of Paul & Joe Beaute cat-themed products (observe how the tabbies bear a striking resemblance to you), along with 30 days of extra gravy servings, help to...

Fibonacci Florescentiaby David A. ReimanThis work is an abstract representation of a botanical specimen based on a fractal Fibonacci spiral. Individual flowers grow from the bifurcation points and bend toward the smaller fractal component. Flowers are colored depending on the growing angle. Every flower lies along a larger virtual spiral path of similarly colored and bending flowers. The work is made entirely from circular arcs and filled circles.Via The Guardian: Bridges 2015: a meeting of maths and art - in picturesConference site: Bridges Baltimore 2015
